CBS12NEWS

We were featured on CBS12NEWS recently and although I was grateful for the opportunity, I’d like to clarify some of the statements that were not accurate.

Step Up For Students is primarily funded through corporate donations that receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit on state taxes, effectively diverting state revenue. Major contributors include companies in the insurance, healthcare, and financial industries, such as Republic National Distributing Company

Therefore, StepUp funds are not taxpayer dollars. I’m a taxpayer and homeschool parent whose tax dollars go to fund public and private school and receive no benefit from doing so.

Lastly, just like any service, I provide structured educational classes for homeschool students, which include instruction, materials, and access to necessary equipment. This service is comparable to other educational or enrichment programs where supplies and tools are included as part of the overall experience.
